8 Foods That Make You Poop

June 22, 2020

I know many of us are suffering from this right now but somehow we avoid talking about it, yes, I’m referring to constipation and poor gut health. Why don’t we talk a bit about it? It’s not a very glamorous thing to talk on, I agree. But hello, if your morning starts with 30 minutes of grunting and gasping trying to get that damn thing out of your system, it’s time for serious insight into what we are eating other than our daily lifestyle changes {going to the gym, working out, I meant}! You may need to introduce more foods that make you poop.

Little changes in what we keep eating throughout the day, take us a long way. Take this, drink normal water instead of a sugary aerated fizzy one! One is that you are hydrated, more water in your system, and two, you are staying away from the complex sugars which our body finds so difficult to break down and digest. Good riddance, right?

I was pondering over listing down the super foods that make you poop your way through and that too without the Herculean effort!! Prunes, Artichokes, Sweet Potatoes, Rice, Chicory, Aloe Vera juice, Rhubarb are the high and mighty foods to shoo away the pooping anguish but it’s good to have a list handy anyways.

What say? Good idea, right, so you could just hang in with me here and take note!

Foods that make you poop

Fresh fibrous fruits

Apples, peaches, pears, kiwis add a heavy dose of insoluble fiber to your body and help flush the poop out faster. Add to that list a whole bunch of berries like the strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries, and a juicy orange, whoo that’s a lot of healthy snacks!

Beans

Beans of all kinds are a powerhouse of insoluble and soluble fiber and could be your best friend when it comes to eating foods that make you poop. Add the pinto, the red kidney, the black-eyed, the garbanzo in whichever form your tummy craves for. If you are looking for beans inspired dinner ideas, click on Cookie + Kate.

Also, did you ever think of gobbling up that warm bowl of lentil soup? The red lentil soup could be a healthy and scrumptious addition to your daily fare and stealthily improve your poopy health too! Needs lentil soup inspiration? Find it on Gimme Some Oven.

Green Veggies

It is no mystery that green veggies like broccoli, spinach, green beans, brussels sprouts, kale, swiss chards are all constipation alleviating foods. They have their own share of fiber and come with a heavy dose of magnesium {that’s way better than drinking Milk of Magnesia, right!}. So, don’t wait for discomfort to start, put some into your lunch right now!

Nuts

Like almonds, walnuts, pecans bring along a healthy composition of proteins, fats, and fibers. When you are scouting for something to munch on, make sure you reach for the nut container earlier than the pub mix jar!

Foods That Make you Poop

Coffee and I are inseparable! Is that true for you too? Good for you!! Yes, you heard me right! Coffee actually helps the colon to make home for whatever next you are going to shove down your mouth! Read about how coffee helps with constipation on One Medical.

Yogurt

Yogurt has probiotics and that stuff makes your gut happy and makes you poop and poop without the grunting sounds, I meant!! So next time when you are debating whether to chomp on a bowl of chips versus a small tub of Activia yogurt, choose the latter, always!

Also, I wanted to quickly ask you, did you try kefir before? It’s great for improving gut health and you could probably consume it as a drink. Know more about the kefir goodness on Healthline.

Fiber-Wealthy Breakfast

Having fiber at the top of your sets you up for a great start. Really, because this kind of breakfast encourages your system to poop!! A hearty bowl of oats, wheat bread sandwich, bran bread, fruit smoothies would be a constipation-killer breakfast.

A quick tip here: crush some flax seeds and mix it up in your smoothie to up the ante for the healthy quotient! Ok, here’s another one, chia seeds are way too healthy, so think about adding some in your sandwich or maybe your smoothie!

Craving for something sweet? Try the fiber-rich dates instead of that bar of chocolate! This healthy alternative to sweeteners in your dessert packs a powerful fibrous punch to your constipation woes and the bonus here, dates help to keep a tab on the blood sugar levels as well.

Of course, these are superfoods but not miraculous foods! Sneaking these foods that make you poop into your everyday life would help ease out the pooping discomfort over time. So next time when you think of stirring in the Miralax into your juice or pop the Dulcolax before bedtime, remember, that’s a temporary cure for just the next day. The cure lies in adapting what we choose to put on our plate every single time we sit down to eat.
