Best Small Space Storage Solutions

January 4, 2021

A 300-square feet apartment, is that some kind of a joke or what? Nope, that’s the reality for many like me. I have been talking so much about my pint-sized New York apartment and some ingenious ways to make it magically look a tad bigger! Well, not magically but by clever planning and putting every nook and cranny to work for me. So, today we’re delving into the somewhat daunting task of bringing up smart small apartment storage ideas.

Don’t you feel that these days the apartment walls are coming closer and the rooms are getting crampier? Of course it is, therefore, I feel it’s all about making the space more functional by being creative. My mantra now, “less is more living” and getting to put my furniture into more than one use. How? The drawers beneath my bed couples up to be my book, blanket, and pillow storage; the living room ottoman houses all my additional throw pillows and decor knick-knacks, the bathroom shelf holds all my everyday use things, and a suction caddy is for my go-to items.

Without prolonging the preface, let’s get straight to the body!! I am taking you along as I make most of my teeny-tiny but a cute little apartment. I’m on a mission to intelligently use up every crevice in here! Small apartment space storage ideas, one room at a time, cool!

The heart of my home, the living room

Invest in a sofa with storage. Imagine the kind of clutter that can be ‘hidden’ inside this kind of sofa. I prefer to put away my throw blankets, seasonal throw covers, my extra snuggly cushions {which come in very handy during the movie nights}! Also it can act up to be a makeshift bed if you’re in a studio or have guests coming over. Where to look, start at Joss+Main

How about a nesting coffee table?

I think it’s a great idea. Honestly, think about it, when you need, just pull out a table and then tuck it away nicely underneath the big coffee table. I guess this will be amazingly helpful when you have more people pouring in the living room than your small coffee table can handle! Bamboo Nesting Triangle End Table looks like a budget-friendly yet pretty option.

Ottoman for additional seating and the storage space that comes with it!

If you’re not the coffee table kind of person, the ottoman can be double up as for seating and a place to put your coffee mug as well!

An Entertainment center with tons of drawers

Yes, I vouch for this one! I have an entertainment center with covered shelves and I can’t tell you how many additional things have gone in there. And I mean books, magazines, laptops, chargers not cluttering the inside to seem de-cluttered outside!!

A bar or a supplies cart, what do you think?

It’s very versatile, serves as my coffee and bar station at the same time, yeah the woes of living in a pint-sized apartment! You can easily use one of the compartments for fruits as well, as I said, the cart wears so many hats.

 Floating Shelves

I haven’t done this yet but came across this utmost clever way of using the expansive walls. Installing shelves, the floating ones to lay the books! Yes, that’s being adept at using all spaces. Did you install one, how does it look? Drop a comment!!

Dual Purpose Furniture!

Are you working from home too? So you are in dire need of a workspace, right? You know what I did, I put in a work table so I had to take my nightstand out. So I opted for a desk with drawers and this doubles up as my nightstand as well!

The kitchen, yes I love you too!

I love a slim cart which you can easily push in the gap between the wall and the refrigerator and can hold your spices, spaghetti or pasta canister and so much more. But certainly the pull-out under the sink drawer,a pan holder to store them vertically instead of laying down, placing bins inside the pull-out drawer to store non-perishable produce individually makes the cut. These are a few tricks up my sleeve to add to my small apartment kitchen storage ideas!

Did you think I forgot about the bathroom?

A cabinet that holds the morning essentials and with a mirror, yes please!

A storage bin to hold my hair, skin and body care absolutes!

Or maybe floating shelves here as well.

Does your bathroom cabinet look like you’ll open and everything will burst out? I was in that position a few days back and then I installed a pull-out sliding organizer to hold the tissues, cleaning gloves, and brushes, and a wire rack on the door to hold the Windex and the Lysol. Sanity was restored!!

Really, I’m improvising every day when it comes to making my space more efficient yet fun, making it a bit more home every day. A place where I don’t feel cramped, I feel liberated, having a little bit of everything I need and love. Does your small apartment efficient storage vision seem more real now? I will love to hear your storage ideas, drop me a comment, please!!
